CREATING SOLUTIONS THROUGH PARTNERSHIP

The K-12 Foundation is a non-profit organization with a mission to the support students, faculty, and administration of Lake Havasu Unified School District #1, and enrich the school's programs and activities so that LHUSD#1 will be a world-class learning center for the benefit of the Lake Havasu Community.

Founded in 2003, the Foundation has forged partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and individuals to raise funds for school projects or activities identified by school administrators as needing a boost.  Whether it's financial assistance (tax deductible) or donations of time and effort, you can help the K-12 Foundation and the Lake Havasu Unified School District #1 build a better future for the youth in our community.  We have accomplished a lot and we hope to do even more.

L-R:  Lindley Diskin and Dick Anderson of Anderson Chrysler, present John Johnston, Hal Christiansen, Marquita McKnight and Kathy Hodel from the K-12 Foundation board, a check for $4,200.00.  Anderson Chrysler held their 5th Annual Back to School Event, in which they donate $50.00 for every car sold, in August to the K-12 Foundation.  Since 2003 they have given $27,500.00 to the K-12 Foundation. Since 1999, prior to the K-12 Foundation starting they donated thousands directly to the school district.

The foundation annual activities are:

  • The Academic Recognition Banquet held in May, for excelling students, teachers and their parents.
  • Participating in many community events with booth displays where we build our coffers with annual memberships of $25 for a family/individual and $1,000 for a business and supporters purchasing parts of the miniature mobile schoolhouse.
  • Local car dealership promotions in August, where they donate a portion of each new and used car sale to the foundation.
  • Little Red School House Promotion, held in the fall where local businesses sell paper cutouts of the schoohouse for $1.00.
  • The Teacher Appreciation Event, held in September, in which all teachers are invited to attend - FREE of charge. Community businesses donate large and small prizes such as desks, chairs, boat rentals, reams of paper, office supplies and many gift certificates.
  • The annual Taste of Havasu, held in October during London Bridge Days, featuring over 2 dozen local restaurants, local entertainment and fun!

In addition, board members present to local community groups and they respond with their cash gifts, either through their own special fundraising efforts, or as a portion of their regular philanthropic giving.
